settling down in an unsettled sort of way with one foot on the bus already
-joyce johnson
i've been very naughty and not kept up my blogging. especially considering the month i've had. so this is gonna be a smorgasbord of info-photo-tails.
so.

santiago, walking walking walking, foraging through markets and taking in more than the rays

a city of great contrast

of colourful markets

of fishy markets and their market men

of well lit restaurants

of fans in unison

of wild city garbage

of big towering beauty

of the lonely street dog

the end of the night of the deaf magician

the casual lunch hour stroll

the caparinhas

the best meal of my life

the harbour views
buenos aires, enjoying the view(of beautiful argentenian men) and discovering how dangerous south american drinks are

the end of the night of the deaf magician

the casual lunch hour stroll

the caparinhas

the best meal of my life

the harbour views
Isreal, wondering the streets of the old city, soaking in the dead sea, climbing desert mountains and changing

bright alleys and dark caves

dark caves and flash

light stones and dark stones

wearing shorts and not wearing underwear

being covered head to toe in mud and being cute

being a lifeguard and having nobody to save where people can't sink

standing waist deep in mud and being photographed by a german boy

a religious landmark and a natural phenomenon

riding a camel and crossing the sea level line

natural and artificial light

walking forward and looking back

christ's tomb and students with guns

selling this and buying that

an old friend and a new friend

swimming and reading

bright alleys and dark caves

dark caves and flash

light stones and dark stones

wearing shorts and not wearing underwear

selling this and buying that

an old friend and a new friend

swimming and reading
pickering, reuniting and resparking our wild old selves, dancing to the beat of our own drums, living large and small and making a new old friend

a surprising nice picture coming out of a more than nice night

face paint for glow-in-the-dark bowling that wasn't

loving life between beards

this guy being the owner of the bar, gave us free drinks all night

laughing and loving the night

dark lights

tradition

wild eyes

the bell sisters

easter dinner

oOo's and OH-AH's

dancing like there was a camp fire

still dancing

fools

doors wide open, a great sunrise read in bed

david bowie

sibling rivalry

the jack pine
it is the morning after andrew's birthday. i'm wide awake on 4 hours of sleep and still a little sad that i didn't get to sing my song at kareoke. the dj had it in for me, he musta.
i love everyone here. who cares if pickering is terrible, if i can spend a lovely day baking tye-dye cakes and sipping wine and singing songs with good people then what can i complain about? i vow to never come back here after a long journey and complain about how lame pickering is. because there is a lot of good here.
my tattoo is a slippery lil rascal and is hard to get a good shot of, but once i do i'll post it here.
aaanndd seeing as i'm probably never going to take another intentional picture of it, here's one where it looks slightly off center and slightly wobbly. it is centered and it sometimes makes a real circle but i love that it goes wherever it wants. in the words of tom dunbar "its organic"

and for myself, just in case i one day forget what my tattoo meant to me the day i got it, it is the jack pine from tom thompsons painting which is probably my favourite of his. he is a canadian artist who worked alongside the group of seven and spent a lot of time in algonquin park. which i did a lot of too, been to this lake, been to this spot. other than my father he was probably the person who influenced me most to want to make art. maybe one day ill get the background filled in in colour.

which song was i gonna sing? blondie-heart of glass. shout out to mb!

typical night in pickering:
andrew and i decide to make a feast so we pull out the cookbooks and decide on the nights conquests. i go get jess and together we cook up some pacoras, raita and potatoes with peanuts and coconut shavings. then we prepare our taste buds for the meal by visiting the green lantern. everything is delicious, with mango and tamarind chutney for the pacoras, everything blurring together on the plate. we eat while watching planet earth. our mouths exploring our feast while our eyes explore the animal kingdom. tonight we had a coconut that turned into quite the adventure to try to open. we ate it while talking to a sick maddi on speakerphone. then we walked jess halfway home. we usually finish up with a couple episodes of metalocalypse and play with the cats.
i'm going to miss cooking in my own kitchen and having every spice at hand.
